Something Blue Bridal Shower

This Bridal Shower Elevated the “Something Blue” Theme

Food and family are important aspects of Greek Culture. Greek philosopher Epicurus is quoted as saying, “We should look for someone to eat and drink with before looking for something to eat and drink.” This wedding shower celebration was particularly meaningful as it was a thoughtful tribute to the groom’s Greek heritage and brought together loved ones in a beautiful and significant manner.

Immersing Guests in Greek Culture

This ‘Something Blue’ bridal shower featured light and airy blue and white decor, reminiscent of the charming houses found on Greek islands. The goal was to whisk guests away to Greece and infuse the event with the warm and welcoming essence of Greek culture.

Every detail of the event was meticulously chosen to immerse guests in the rich tapestry of Greek culture. The handmade Mati, or evil eye, a symbol of protection and good luck, added a deeply personal touch to the celebration. The decor, with its white stone walls and bougainvilleas, was a nod to Greece’s charm. Beautiful authentic ceramics and pottery, each piece a testament to the handcrafted artistry of the region, adorned the space, further enhancing the ambiance.

Bridging Families and Heritage

What made this event especially unique was the emphasis on bringing together both families and heritage. The bride’s request for guests to provide family recipes as gifts was a beautiful gesture that brought three generations of women together. A Greek dance troupe performed, serving as an excellent opportunity for guests to learn traditional Greek dances before the wedding. These details helped reinforce the rich traditions at the heart of the event.

Planning this event was an exciting opportunity to get creative. We came up with elegant solutions to display the recipe cards and successfully coordinated the arrival of authentic evil eyes from overseas. We also carefully synchronized schedules for guests flying in, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all generations.

Crafting a Rich Culinary and Visual Experience

The lively celebration was bolstered by Grecian wines and an authentic traditional Greek menu. The family-owned restaurant, Yamas, provided a truly authentic Greek setting. (In Greek culture, the word ‘Yamas’ is not just a toast but an invocation of good health and a celebration of life.) The family-style menu cultivated a sense of togetherness and encouraged guests to connect.

The different artisanal vases for the gorgeous florals designed by Serracinna, complemented by olive branches and the symbolic evil eye, added to the authenticity and beauty of the setting, further enhancing the familial atmosphere. At the end of the evening, guests took home the traditional Koufeta. Koufeta are white sugar-coated almonds (Jordan Almonds). The hard almond is a symbol of the endurance of marriage, and the sugar coating is a promise of a sweet life together.

This bridal shower not only transported our guests to Greece but also created a warm and inviting space that allowed friends and family to share stories, make memories, and celebrate in true Grecian fashion. As the guests lingered for hours, talking, laughing, and enjoying the food, it was a testament to the event’s success in bringing the spirit of Greece to life.
